Energy Lawyer Marvin T. Griff Joins Thompson Hine's Corporate Practice in Washington, D.C.


Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Marvin T. Griff has joined the firm's Corporate Transactions & Securities practice in Washington, D.C., as a partner. Griff joins from Husch Blackwell.

Griff counsels electric utilities, clean technology companies, alternative energy developers, interstate and intrastate natural gas and oil pipeline companies, local distribution companies, large end-users and energy marketers on complex transactions. He has served as regulatory counsel on mergers, asset divestitures and acquisitions as well as in new infrastructure and rate proceedings. Griff represents a wide range of energy companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other federal and state agencies and courts.

Griff served as counsel to a demand response petitioner that successfully appealed FERC's Order 745 before the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, he served as a member of the U.S. government-designated Gore-Chernomyrdin Committee, comprised of U.S. energy companies and energy executives advising the Russian government on restructuring and revising its tariff system. He has received an Outstanding Performance Award from FERC's Office of the General Counsel and is an articles editor of Energy Law Journal.

Griff is the most recent partner to join the firm's Washington office. arlier this year, the office welcomed a Government Contracts practice from Cooley LLP led by Tom Mason and including Francis E. "Chip" Purcell Jr. and Ray McCann. Also this year, Mark Lunn joined the firm's International Trade practice group from Dentons LLP.
