Casetext Names Andrea Austin as Vice President of Sales

Casetext, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-based legal research technology for lawyers, has named veteran enterprise sales executive Andrea Austin as the company's vice president of sales, addressing the demand law firms have for innovative, efficient legal research.

For more than 20 years, Austin has built high-performance, customer-focused teams that achieved sustainable growth. Most recently, Austin led channel, mid-market and enterprise sales and services teams at InsideView. In 2016, she was recognized as a leading sales mentor by Women in Sales North America. She is the co-author of a business book, "Aligned to Achieve," published in 2016, which focuses on sales and marketing alignment.

In her new role, Austin plans to focus on building and leading the revenue and customer teams to achieve breakthrough results in this dynamic market.

"I couldn't be more thrilled that Andrea is on the team," said Jake Heller, Casetext's CEO. "Andrea is a true leader with a proven track-record of success. I am confident she will build on the fantastic reception Casetext has received in the market, and help us bring our world-class technology to help many more legal professionals."

Austin graduated from California State University, Bakersfield, and previously worked at InsideView, where she was vice president of the enterprise business. Before that, Austin led numerous sales initiatives and teams at enterprise software and solution providers, including Varolii (Nuance Communications), IBM (News - Alert), Symphony Technology Group, Vitria Technology, DigitalThink and PeopleSoft.

"I am excited to join the company as Casetext accelerates its growth with its award-winning, next-generation legal research platform," said Austin. "I look forward to leading the go-to-market initiatives of ths incredible organization and enabling the legal market to accelerate their research initiatives through Casetext's modern techniques. With my expertise in high-performance sales team recruitment, mentoring, new business development and customer growth, I am confident in my ability to contribute to Casetext's growth and to contribute significantly to this market."

Earlier this year, Casetext closed on a $12 million Series B funding round led by Canvas Ventures, a firm whose partners have previously invested in technology powerhouses Siri and Evernote (News - Alert), with participation from prior investors Union Square Ventures, 8VC and Red Sea Ventures, among others.

Casetext's award-winning legal research platform, CARA (Case Analysis Research Assistant) uses AI and natural-language technologies to automate key legal research tasks, arming lawyers with the highest quality research possible, ultimately allowing firms to spend time on higher-value, billable work-and not miss key precedents or decisions. Because CARA is powered by the Casetext research database, users have access to a full library of federal and state law, annotated by expert analysis from leading attorneys and law firms.

In related news, Casetext recently announced Jeroen Plink as a member of its board of directors. Plink has more than 20 years of experience in the legal industry, specializing in the development of technology solutions for law firms and corporations. Plink founded the U.S. operations of Practical Law and has been active in the legal technology field as an advisor, board member and investor in various companies throughout the U.S., Canada, England and Europe.
