Rakshabandha, a festival that cherishes the bond of siblinghood between a brother and sister, is celebrated with immense fervour and enthusiasm in India. Being brother and sister means being there for each other. However, with time, education and career opportunity distance the siblings and makes them reside away from family. Therefore, the most effective means to ensure that celebrations and festivals are not compromised with is by sending rakhi along with gifts through online gifting portals.

FlowerAura, a venture of FA Gifts Pvt Ltd is reputed online flowers and gifting company that conducted a survey of 1000 females across four metropolitan cities namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. The survey was done with the intent of having an understanding of the mindset of the sisters while they look for Rakhshabandhan gifts for their brothers residing away from them.

Here's what the survey results revealed basis the opinions shared by the respondents.

Over 73% of the females in the survey disclosed that they choose to order rakhi gifts online through portals such as FlowerAura, rakhi Bazaar, IGP, FNP, etc. Of those, 46% of the sisters have brothers who are married, making their choice obvious for going in favor of Bhaiya Bhabhi rakhis. The survey also found that around 61% people preferred rakhi with chocolates over rakhi with sweets. Further, 27% of the participants chose to send rakhi with greeting card over sending rakhi as a single product.



One of the most noteworthy findings of the survey was that majority of the females, primarily covering 91% of the total respondents, opted for rakhi thali as the most-preferred option for sending to their brothers on Rakhshabandhan.

The survey also revealed that amongst the various types of rakhis, silver rakhi was a special favourite getting 21% of the total votes. Close to silver rakhi was zardosi rakhi bucketing 18% of the votes. Pearl rakhi, kundan rakhi and diamond rakhi stood at 13%, 10% and 9% respectively. Last but not the least on the board was designer rakhi and divine rakhi at 7% each.


Thus, the survey explained that females prefer to send rakhi gifts online through online gifting portals, and that Silver rakhi is the most favoured amongst all rakhis.

FlowerAura conducted this 'Rakshabandhan Consumer Survey' with the intent to capture the subjective assessments of around 1000 respondents across four metropolitan cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Based on the response of the 1000 females surveyed about the Rakhshabandhan gifting choice, enumerable exciting facts emerged. The survey was done by the company at various shopping complexes by approaching and requesting people to share their opinions.
