Pacific Life Foundation Donates $1 Million to HomeAid Orange County

The Pacific Life Foundation today announced a $1 million transformational grant to HomeAid Orange (News - Alert) County, which will provide homeless children and their families with access to vitally needed year-round emergency housing and support services through its newly opened Family CareCenter. The 10,000-square foot facility, the first project HomeAid Orange County has developed and also owns, is located in the city of Orange, California.

"The HomeAid Family CareCenter is a key solution for families who have lost their housing and are in need of immediate assistance," said Tennyson Oyler, president of the Pacific Life Foundation. "Being able to provide a safe environment for children, keep families together and move them into stable and long-term housing provides families the resources and support they need to get back on their feet."

The Pacific Life Foundation's $1 million transformational grant will assist HomeAid Orange County with capital expenses and operating costs, including 56 beds, serving between 10 and 15 families per day, as well as additional renovations and improvements of its Learning Technology Center, client intake area for referral services, outdoor recreation area, kitchen and dining area, six full bathrooms ith showers and laundry facilities.

"We anticipate serving over 500 residents experiencing homelessness annually, all of them with children," said Scott Larson (News - Alert), executive director of HomeAid Orange County. "The Family CareCenter is open 365 days a year and is an entry point and resource to other nonprofits. The Pacific Life Foundation's significant gift sets the stage for years to come to directly help families who are homeless and struggling to find safe places to stay each and every night."

Oyler continued, "Our long-standing relationship with HomeAid Orange County has spanned two decades and we are pleased to continue our support on this important and unique project. The Family CareCenter meets a critical need in the Orange County community, one we are proud to stand behind."
