Casetext Names Jeroen Plink to Board of Directors

Casetext, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-based legal research technology for lawyers, has named Jeroen Plink to its board of directors.

Plink has more than 20 years of experience in the legal industry, specializing in the development of technology solutions for law firms and corporations. He founded the U.S. operations of Practical Law, building the company from the ground-up to over 250 employees - serving 80 percent of the AmLaw 200 and thousands of corporations. Since Thomson (News - Alert) Reuters acquired Practical Law in 2013, Plink has been active in the legal technology field as an advisor, board member and investor in various companies throughout the U.S., Canada, England and Europe.

"The level of experience Jeroen brings to the Casetext board is tremendous," said Casetext CEO Jake Heller. "As the leader of U.S. operations of one of the most successful legal tech startups of the last decade, and an advisor and investor in over a dozen legal tech startups, his experience and passion are unmatched. I have collaborated with Jeroen as an advisor and mentor for over a year, and every time I speak with him, I learn something important. I can say unequivocally that Casetext would not be where it is today without Jeroen's help and guidance, and I look forward to building the future of Casetext with him."

Prior to structuring the U.S. business of Practical Law, Plink managed the company's software business in London. He joined Practical Law through its acquisition of Legistics Ltd., a SaaS (News - Alert) business for due diligence in M&A transactions, which he co-founded. Previously, Plink was a privateequity lawyer with Clifford Chance in Amsterdam and was on overseas secondment as a corporate lawyer with Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles. He earned his law degree from Leiden University in The Netherlands and his executive MBA at the Erasmus Rotterdam School of Business.

"Jake and the team have built a terrific company and product, and I am honored to continue to work with them," Plink said.
