Thalmic Labs Continues Rapid Growth with Addition of Jari Niemela as Vice President of Engineering


Former CEO of NUVIZ Inc., Brings Engineering Experience from Nokia and Microsoft to Growing Wearable Technology Company

WATERLOO, ON, July 11, 2017 /CNW/ - Thalmic Labs, pioneers of the future of human-computer interaction and creators of the Myo Armband, today announces Jari Niemela as Vice President of Engineering. This addition marks another milestone in the the growth and evolution of Thalmic Labs, which raised $120M USD in venture funding last year led by Intel Capital, the Amazon Alexa Fund and Fidelity Investments Canada. Thalmic also recently opened a new office in San Francisco and a 50,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Waterloo.

Niemela brings 20 years of experience in engineering leadership, having previously worked for Nokia, Microsoft and most recently, NUVIZ Inc. where he led the senior team as CEO. In his new role, Niemela will oversee all aspects of engineering at Thalmic Labs, with a specific focus on hardware leadership.
