Abine receives broad patent for privacy and identity protection

BOSTON, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Abine Inc., The Online Privacy Company, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued to Abine United States Patent No. 9,703,988 – a significant patent for privacy and identity protection using its anti-tracking and tokenization technology.

Tokenization technology protects consumers

Abine's unique technology tokenizes consumers' personal data in an encrypted form that provides truly proactive and secure online privacy and identity protection for the most frequent things people do in their digital lives:

  • Tracking protection that allows anyone to keep which Web sites they visit more private when surfing on a PC or an iPhone and Android smartphone;
  • Identity protection for creating anonymous accounts with email addresses, passwords, and phone #'s when registering for web sites and mobile Apps;
  • Credit card data breach protection using Masked Cards for secure e-commerce and for more private shopping – even on Amazon.

"The newly issued patent adds to the flexibility of what we can do with future products and partnerships using our anti-tracking and tokenization, or Masking, Technology," said Andrew Sudbury, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Abine.  "Because Abine was among the first online privacy companies, our unique  patented and patent-pending technologies enable the creation of many different kinds of innovative identity protection, payments, privacy and security products."

The patent relates to both privacy while surfing and shopping, dynamic anti-tracking (similar to Ad-blocing), and to the interactive protection of a persons identity online.  Specifically, the patent covers securing consumers' personally identifiable information (or "PII") on both desktop computers and mobile phones using Abine's tokenization or "Masking" technologies which protect PII before it ever can be exposed in cloud databases.  Masking lets people choose to disclose their real info to Web sites or instead to give out fully-functional aliases or "tokens" which replace their real personal information while still allowing them to use the Web and or their mobile phones and sign-up or shop for anything… privately.

The tokenization technology is available in Abine's Blur service for the following browsers and mobile devices:
