ECI’S Apollo Family of Products Selected to Upgrade Rainier Connect's Optical Transport Network to 100G in the Western United States

Petach Tikvah – Israel, June 7, 2017 – ECI®, a global provider of ELASTIC network solutions for service providers, critical infrastructures, and data center operators, in cooperation with Rainier Connect, a family-owned, telecommunications service provider offering high-speed internet, cable television and telephone services to more than 15,000 customers in the western United States, announced today the successful upgrade of Rainier’s optical transport network to 100G with ECI’s Apollo family of products.

The project was funded in part, by the?Rural Utilities Service?(RUS), an agency of the?United States Department of Agriculture?(USDA), that administers programs providing infrastructure or infrastructure improvements to rural communities via?public-private partnerships. These include water and waste treatment, electric power and telecommunications services requiring equipment vetted by the U.S. government.

Ben Miller, Network Operations Manager at Rainier Connect said, “We assessed many companies in search for a partner that provided a flexible platform to meet our needs for the next several years. We chose ECI for its state-of-the-art products and their reputable service. Once we initiated our project the implementation and deployment went smoothly.” The ECI Apollo family of products offer state-of-the-art, transparent and flexible DWDM transport with integrated packet services. Apollo combines high-performance, low-latency OTN transport, with software configurable optical switching, for maximum efficiency. Rainier’s sophisticated network architecture now includes 100G interfaces, multi-degree ROADM capabilities and can scale up to 88 channels, all of which are easily and intuitively managed via ECI’s LightSOFT® network management system (NMS).

“ECI was aware of Rainier Connect’s strong commitment to delivering the best services and service to its customers,” said Tony Gomez VP Business Development for ECI North America. “It had outgrown its 10G legacy networks and was ready to move to the next level. We were glad to help, and in such a way that prepared them for future upgrades as required. ECI’s 100G right sized Rainier’s network for metro and long haul from day one. Moreover, with software upgradable interfaces and simple, plug-and-play line cards – the network is now truly future-proof, it’s as simple as replacing the card in the chassis and the network is ready to go.” ABOUT RAINIER CONNECT Rainier Connect is a gigabit fiber, broadband and telecommunications company.
