Nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH)® to host #HurricaneStrong Facebook Live Preparedness Event on June 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off June 1, and the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes wants everyone to be prepared. Join FLASH SVP of Education and Technical Programs Mike Rimoldi on Facebook Live as he will answer your questions about how to prepare your family and get your home ready for the season.

The June 1 broadcast will combat common myths and will highlight these five steps to becoming #HurricaneStrong:

  • Personal Safety - Know your evacuation zone
  • Family Preparedness - Build a disaster supply kit
  • Financial Security - Have an insurance checkup
  • Damage Prevention - Strengthen your home
  • Community Service - Help your neighbor

"It's looking like a busy season for hurricanes — and homeowners. If you want to ensure that you are ready for the season, now is the time to act — don't wait until the storm is heaing your way," said Rimoldi. "We want people to have time to prepare. We want them to know how to prepare and Facebook Live is a great way to get the word out."

Broadcast Information:

Launched in 2016, the #HurricaneStrong campaign helped increase public safety and reduce economic losses from hurricanes by reaching tens of millions of residents in hurricane-exposed states through business summits, digital channels, home improvement store workshops, kids programming, media outreach, school lesson plans, special events, and a Twitter campaign.
