Laughly Broadens Content Offerings with Top Comedy Podcasts to Become One Stop Shop for Comedy; Launches Its Own Podcast

In the wake of launching a new audio livestreaming feature just last month with its first stand-up comedian broadcasts from comedy festivals and clubs, Laughly today announced a significant expansion of its content offerings with the addition of comedy podcasts. Beginning May 17, Laughly will be streaming the top comedy podcasts in the U.S., helping to evolve the world's first streaming audio app devoted to stand-up comedy into a broader, one-stop sonic source for all things funny.

Laughly users will also enjoy enhanced functionality with the ability to search podcasts not just by name of the podcast, but by host, guest, and topic. Along with the top comedy podcasts, Laughly is excited to launch a podcast of their own called "The Cheat Sheet." Hosted by three Laughly executives, Kelly Anneken, Mark Seman and Rashidi Hendrix, the monthly podcast will discuss current events happening in comedy in the past month.

Driving this recent news is the popularity of comedy podcasts, which now constitute close to 50% of all podcasts. "Comedian's have embraced the podast as a vehicle of exposure," says Laughly founder and CEO Dave Scott. "It only makes sense for us to support those endeavors." Among the top comedy podcasts to be regularly streamed by Laughly will be the iTunes Top 200, including the ten most listened to:

  1. The Joe Rogan Experience
  2. My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark
  3. NPR's (News - Alert) Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me!
  4. 2 Dope Queens
  5. Last Podcast on the Left
  6. Chris Hardwick's The Nerdist
  7. How Did This Get Made?
  8. Monday Morning Podcast with Bill Burr
  9. WTF with Marc Maron
  10. Ear Biscuits

"Comedians have discovered the cross-promotional power of podcasts as an additional way to market themselves, their albums and their live shows," explains Scott. "We are excited to broaden our mission to deliver not just the best stand-up, but the best comedy to listeners everywhere, while helping comedy professionals reach those audiences through all they have to offer."
