Opus Community Foundation Announces 17 Grant Awards to Charitable Organizations in Arizona, California, Oregon, and WashingtonOpus Bank ("Opus") and the Opus Community Foundation ("Foundation") announced today the Foundation's approval of 17 grant awards to charitable organizations that Opus and the Foundation believe will strengthen and engage the communities which Opus serves. The grants were awarded to nonprofit organizations in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington that focus on education, financial literacy, community health services, work readiness programs, and the arts. Arizona: Harmony Project Phoenix received a grant to support its music education and mentorship program, which provides low-income youth access to a musical instrument, after-school music classes, enrichment activities, mentoring, family support services, and college scholarships. California: Blind Children's Learning Center received a grant to support its Therapy Services clinic, which provides on-site occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, nursing, counseling, and optometric services to help students reach their full potential, despite their disability. Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton received a grant to support its Robotics program, which integrates science, math, reading, writing, presentation skills, research, and creativity to prepare students for success in school and the workforce. Downtown Streets Team received a grant to support its workforce development program, which provides work experience, basic needs assistance, housing/shelter placement, case management, job search skills classes, and employment placement assistance. El Sol Science and Arts Academy received a grant for its preschool literacy and mathematics programs, which provide educational opportunities and support to students from low- and moderate-income households in Santa Ana. Grow My Way received a grant for its academic readiness and arts programs, which provide unique hands on educational opportunities and support for developmentally challenged children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum (News - Alert) Disorder. L.A. Goal received a grant to support its job training programs, which provide developmentally disabled adults with vocational training, life skills classes, and educational opportunities. Long Beach Symphony received a grant for its music education programs, which provide students in the Long Beach Unified School District with access to ensemble teaching performances, symphonic youth concert field trips, and side-by-side mentorship. Marin Center for Independent Living received a grant to support its safety net programs, which provide counseling, housing referral, advocacy, assistive technology, medical equipment referral and recycling, home modifications, and community outreach to individuals living independently or regaining independence after a severe illness, age-related disability, or life-altering accident. Taller San Jose Hope Builders received a grant to support its programs, which provide workforce training skills and life skills instruction in financial literacy, healthy behaviors, and other personal development topics. Working Solutions received a grant to support its programs, which provide microentrepreneurs with the access to capital and resources they need to start or grow a successful business. Oregon: Financial Beginnings received a grant to support its Financial Foundations program, which provides personal finance education to low-income high school students in the Portland metropolitan area. Washington: Community Big Give received a grant to support its educational assistance program, which provides school supplies and financial literacy support to schools in underserved, low-income communities. Food Lifeline received a grant to support its programs, which procure and efficiently distribute food to low-income individuals and families in Western Washington. Pike Place Market Foundation received a grant to support its childcare and preschool programs, which provide children from low-income families access to high quality early learning and enable their parents to pursue education and employment opportunities. Teens in Public Service received a grant to support its summer internship program, which subsidizes paid internships for teens at local nonprofits, where the interns develop job and leadership skills, provide service to their communities, and increase their social awareness. YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish received a grant to support its BankWork$ program, which prepares local individuals for employment in banking, connects trainees with employment opportunities, and provides ongoing support to ensure trainees succeed in their new careers.
