Boston TechJam 2017 To Showcase Regional Technology And Innovation At Annual Block Party

BOSTON, May 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 15, 2017, City Hall Plaza will again host the fifth annual Boston TechJam, a celebration of the technology ecosystem and culture of New England- and Boston-area entrepreneurs, startups, established tech companies, venture capitalists, non-profit organizations and higher learning institutions. The event is part block party, part tech showcase that connects the community, experiential content and a celebration of the local innovation economy.

"Boston TechJam provides companies, individuals and ideas a platform to take hold and scale, as well as a single day that celebrates all that is great about the Boston tech community.  In 2017 we are focused on expanding this platform," states Christine Nolan, co-founder of Boston TechJam and Sr. Director of Communities at MassTLC. "We are thrilled to be partnering this year with organizations such as BostInno, CIC, Resilient Coders, and TechGen who will be showcasing important elements of the tech community – from students, to startups, to the role of diversity and hot tech trends - that all play an important role in our vibrant ecosystem."

The event is made possible by the thought leadership and financial support of underwriting sponsors Autodesk, Cengage, Chewy.com, Cybereason, EBSCO, Kronos, Monster, Optum and PTC. Additional sponsorship and exhibiting opportunities are still available.

For the past two years, a content program has been absent from the event. But this year, content is back! Boston Tech Jam, BostInno and CIC are teaming up to bring interesting founders, ompanies and their stories to the audience. More details will be released soon.

Boston TechJam will also feature performances from live bands, appearances from entrepreneurial tech leaders – both past and present, local craft beer, food truck fare and "street-festival"-type games from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.

"We are on the brink of an inflection point in the battle for equitable access to the tech economy," said David Delmar, executive director, Resilient Coders who will be releasing information from a study it conducted around how diversity in the workplace makes businesses stronger. "With the boom in tech over the past decade, continued success will be driven by the industry's desire to embrace all members of the community.  We are thrilled to be partnering with Boston TechJam where we all come together for the day to embrace Boston as a great place to launch and scale innovative ideas and businesses."

The event is being led by co-founder Mark Lorion of Apperian and co-founder Christine Nolan of MassTLC along with founding team members Dave Polcaro from East Coast Catalyst, Ben Maitland-Lewis from Pretty Instant, Dave Cutler from Influence Central and Joel Richman from SHIFT Communications. Other leading collaborators include BostInno, the City of Boston, CIC, Resilient Coders, and TechGen.
