Point Guard Biosciences Announces Winner of Innovation in Ophthalmology Award

TAMPA, Fla., April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Point Guard Biosciences, LLC (PGBio) is pleased to announce the winner of the second PGBio Innovation in Ophthalmology Award.  This award was created by PGBio to assist entrepreneurs in the area of ophthalmology with financial help as well as assistance with strategic planning.

The award recipient was chosen based on novelty of the medical research, and the ability of the project to improve the quality of life of patients. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of $10,000. In addition to the cash prize, the award recipient will receive assistance by the PGBio team with the development of a business plan.

The winner of the 2017 award is project team for the Cornea Dome Lens, an innovative diagnostic kit designed to capture high rsolution photographs of the entire ocular surface. This kit can be used to diagnose, monitor and prevent corneal and conjunctival pathologies, which affect more than 20 Million patients per year. The Cornea Dome Lens team includes Dr. Bernhard Steger, Dr. Vito Romano and Ms. Giulia Angi.
