Logicalis US Examines Importance of Enterprise Security ArchitectureNEW YORK, April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For many years, CIOs and CISOs have provided enterprise security to their organizations by focusing on so-called "best-of-breed" security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection, anti-virus, etc. However, these tools, while excellent at what they each can accomplish, often lack the ability to provide a holistic and integrated level of security that shares information among various solutions. Logicalis US, an international IT solutions and managed services provider (www.us.logicalis.com), recommends taking an enterprise security architecture approach instead of a best-of-breed approach to provide a greater level of cybersecurity. A recent blog post by Ron Temske, Vice President of Security Solutions, Logicalis US, outlines Why Enterprise Security Architecture Matters and the considerations CIOs and CISOs need to make. "While you can make a strong argument for an architected approach in many areas of IT, it's particularly important in cybersecurity," says Temske. "Your organization's security architecture must not only be integrated, but it also must include automation or you will end up applying human processes to defend against machine-generated campaigns, which is clearly a losing proposition." The architected approach to enterprise security employs solutions designed to work together even when they come from different vendors. These architected security solutions are tightly integrated and able to apply automation for a greater level of security. For example, if an attack makes it past an organization's firewall, but its malicious behavior is detected by an endpoint system, in an integrated environment, that endpoint system would securely share the information with the organization's firewalls as well as with outside threat intelligence organizations. Today's threat landscape includes malicious actors literally using a cybercrime-as-a-service model in conjunction with criminal affiliate networks to dstribute their malware. These types of threats require multiple layers of defense all on the lookout for future attacks of that nature. An architected, integrated approach provides a much higher efficacy rate in stopping these attacks because all the security elements can communicate and share threat information while using automation to defend without involving human processes. "An architected, integrated ecosystem with an appropriately automated approach leveraging threat intelligence to security will outperform a best-of-breed approach overall," says Temske. "Clearly, all the components must perform well – an integrated platform using substandard components won't perform well – but leveraging this approach will pay dividends." Want to Learn More?
