Exact Announces New Release of Macola ERP and Business Software

Exact, a global frontrunner in business software for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), today unveiled Macola 10.5 at its annual user conference Macola Evolve 2017 in New Orleans. In the newest release of its leading ERP and business software, Exact focused on enhancing the usability of the software with new tablet-led user interfaces - aligning with how and where its manufacturing and wholesale distribution customers use the software on a day-to-day basis.

In addition to demonstrating Macola 10.5 at Evolve, Exact showed an innovation created in Macola Labs, its new emerging technology development program. The company also updated its user community on strides it has made with its community service efforts in the past year, and highlighted key award wins.

Macola 10.5 new features and benefits

With Macola 10.5, Exact took a tablet-first approach to refreshing its user interfaces, developing a new architecture to offer a stronger experience on tablets in addition to the desktop. The application's responsive design automatically adjusts to format for the best user experience on whatever device is being used. Mission-critical business and operational data can now be accessed on the fly by users, with any updates synchronizing within the application in real-time. This eases order processing and inventory management, giving the user a holistic view of the operation and inventory levels, around the clock.

In line with its focus on usability, the software update offers users new functionality so they can be more efficient, accomplishing more in less time on one screen. This includes new search functionalities like type-ahead search that requires less data to be entered than before, infinite scrolling and sort-able table columns.

"In any given day, our customers may be on the shop or warehouse floor managing operations, out of the office visiting customers or suppliers, or sourcing new materials. The latest update to our ERP and business software is focused on empowering users to more efficiently and seamlessly access the information they need to do their jobs, wherever they are at the time," said Derek Ochs, director of development, Exact, Macola division. "With Macola 10.5, we are matching our software to the way our customers do their jobs. In the end, if Macola is truly doing its own job, the user hardly knows the software is there."

Macola Labs

In line with its commitment to equipping its users with the most cutting-edge technology that will drive their businesses forward, Exact recently created Macola Labs, a broad and ongoing exploration of technologies created through company hackathons that hold promise for future real-world deployment. On the main stage at Evolve, Exact demonstrated some recent innovations the product development team has built in Macola Labs, including a facial recognition application.

An award-winning year

In the past 12 months, Exact ad its customers have won three esteemed industry awards, and achieved finalist status for two, in addition to securing placement in selective CRN guides.

Award wins included:

Underscoring Exact's value proposition to solution providers, Lisa Wise, director, alliances and channel development, was named to the CRN 2017 Channel Chiefs list. Wise was chosen for her efforts in spearheading the company's channel-led strategy and nurturing relationships with current and prospective partners. Recently, Exact was also included in CRN's selective 2016 Partner Marketing Guide and 2017 Partner Program Guide, where the company's Macola Unity Partner Program received a five-star ranking.

Finally, Macola 10.4 was named a finalist in the Plant Engineering Product of the Year awards and Exact customer Datum Filing was named a finalist in the MANTEC awards.

A commitment to community service

Community service is engrained in Exact's mission and culture. In the past year, Exact continued to make strides in its efforts to help fight hunger. Exact has a coordinated program that raises money and volunteers for local food banks and initiatives in communities where the company hosts events and where employees reside. Projects are carried out intermittently throughout the year, with a constant focus on Central Ohio's local food bank, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. In the last year, more than half of Exact employees engaged in volunteer work in support of the company's philanthropic mission.

In tandem, through Exact's involvement with the Empty Bowls Project, the company selects one major food bank located in the community where Macola Evolve is held each year. At each conference, the made or locally-purchased bowls are auctioned off, with all of the proceeds going to local food banks. Last year, Exact raised money for the Atlanta Community Food Bank - the local food bank in the community that hosted Macola Evolve 2016 - and donated software. Through the Empty Bowls Project, Exact has serviced local food banks in nine cities nationwide. The proceeds from this year's initiative will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans.

"Today, I'm proud to look back on Exact's accomplishments from the past year, which include bringing valuable product innovation to our customers, rallying our employees to continue to help fight hunger, and seeing the industry recognize our outstanding employees, customers and products," said Forsythe. "This success underscores that our product and service offerings are responding to market needs. I look forward to continuing to partner with everyone who made these achievements possible in the year to come."
