Cambium Networks To Showcase Rural Broadband Solutions At Fixed Wireless Day On Capitol Hill

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks, a leading global provider of wireless networking solutions, today announced that the company will be a key equipment provider at the April 5 WISPA Fixed Wireless Day on Capitol Hill. The event demonstrates fixed wireless technology as a proven, cost-effective solution to close the broadband gap in rural communities.

Today, more than 2,000 Wireless ISPs deliver broadband service to more than four million business and residential customers in all 50 states. Fixed Wireless Broadband is a compelling alternative to fiber, DSL, and cable solutions from a cost/benefit basis; and in many locales the only option for reliable high-speed access to the internet. The Pew Research report published earlier this year showed that 3.7 billion of the 7.3 billion people in the world are connected to the internet. This still leaves about 50% of the world's population unconnected with the majority of those not yet connected in rural areas. In the United States today, while 75% of urban households have access to connectivity, only 66% of rural areas have broadband.

Scott Imhoff, Senior Vice President o Product Management for Cambium Networks will be one of the featured speakers at the luncheon intended to educate legislative leaders on the impact fixed wireless broadband can have on their communities.  "Our goal in this session is to build awareness of these local businesses connecting their communities. Wireless Internet Service Providers in the United States have more than 10 years' experience with our wireless broadband solutions and have been instrumental in our ability to develop technology like the PMP 450m with Massive MU-MIMO, which delivers ultra-high-speed connectivity to provide streaming video, voice and data connectivity."

In addition to showing the latest in fixed wireless broadband technology, Cambium Networks will share examples of connecting communities in rural locations, including a recent deployment to connect a library and community center in Pembroke, Illinois.

The session will be on Wednesday, April 5, at the Rayburn Foyer in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. The event includes a luncheon and technology expo from noon to 5:00 p.m. EDT.
