This week's biggest announcement was made this morning in Washington D.C. by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross that the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) will sign a 25-year contract to AT&T to build and maintain a nationwide public-safety broadband network. Gregg Herring, VP & Market Leader, Public Infrastructure said, "We are excited that IWCE is able to play a critical role providing an informational forum for this important initiative. When it comes to public safety, Americans expect results from first responders. The first-of-its-kind FirstNet network will carry high-speed data, location information, images, and streaming video to public-safety users, so they can have the best information to make critical decisions quickly."
