Flocabulary Goes Mobile with New Educational Hip-Hop App

Flocabulary, the interactive learning platform that uses educational hip-hop to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum, today announced the launch of its first ever mobile app. Designed for K-12 students and their parents, the first-of-its-kind app features more than 800 educational hip-hop videos on subjects ranging from history and math to social studies, language arts and life skills.

"For years we've heard from teachers that their students ask how they can watch Flocabulary videos at home," said Flocabulary CEO Alex Rappaport. "We're often called the 'Schoolhouse Rock!' for the 21st century, and while the heyday of Saturday morning cartoons may be gone, kids still love to learn through music. This app puts Flocabulary's educational resources directly into the hands of kids and parents."

With videos directly aligned to what students are learning in school, the app also features interactive activities: Students are able to build their vocabulary by researching key terms in the Glossary activity; the Challenge activity allows students to match definitions to the correct word; using the Lyrics activity, students rap along withthe videos.

According to a 2016 Deloitte survey of K-12 public and private school educators, parents of school-age children, and K-12 students themselves, respondents across all groups indicated they want more at-home learning with digital tools to supplement school work. In fact, 73 percent of kids say more access to digital learning tools would increase their time spent learning over the summer and 75 percent of students are interested in continuing to learn at home about the things they're being taught in the classroom.

Over 20,000 schools are currently using Flocabulary's videos, instructional activities and assessments to develop core literacy skills and supplement instruction in all grades. The app is now available on both iOS and Android (News - Alert) for $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial option.
