Innovium Introduces TERALYNX, World's Highest Performance and Most Scalable Ethernet Switch Silicon Family with Industry-leading Analytics, Programmability and Power Efficiency

Innovium, Inc. today announced TERALYNX™, the world's highest performance and most scalable Ethernet switch silicon family that leapfrogs the industry with an innovative architecture optimized for data centers. Innovium TERALYNX is the industry's first switch that shatters the 10 terabits per second (Tbps) performance barrier in a single chip, while delivering breakthrough telemetry, line-rate programmability, largest on-chip buffers and best-in-class low-latency, resulting in up to 6x advantage compared to alternatives. TERALYNX includes broad support for 10/25/40/50/100/200/400GbE Ethernet standards and becomes the world's first product to deliver 128 ports of 100GbE, 64 ports of 200GbE or 32 ports of 400GbE in a single device. The TERALYNX switch family includes software compatible options at 12.8Tbps, 9.6Tbps, 6.4Tbps and 3.2Tbps performance points, each delivering compelling benefits for switch system vendors and data center operators.

Data Center Market Dynamics

Economics, agility, and flexibility are rapidly driving customers to move IT to the public and private cloud. Intel predicts that 70-80% of all systems will be deployed in "large scale data centers" by 2025. In addition, applications such as 4G/5G, video, artificial intelligence (AI), machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and distributed storage are creating explosive data-center traffic growth. Network bandwidth demands inside Google's (News - Alert) data-centers are doubling every 12-15 months, and Amazon Web Services has highlighted that its network traffic is increasing faster than compute usage. Cisco's Cloud Index report forecasts traffic within large scale data centers will quintuple by 2020, along with significant IPv6 adoption and need for lower latency. Data center customers are demanding solutions to these trends and requirements within strict constraints of lower Capex, Opex and increased uptimes along with future-proof, agile support for new features, protocols and I/Os.

TERALYNX: Customer-Focused Innovation

Innovium TERALYNX is the industry's first network switch architected from the ground-up to optimally address the needs of large data centers. Other products in the market have been designed for multiple disparate segments resulting in poor trade-offs for any single segment. TERALYNX is fueled by customer-focused & patented innovations, which enable the industry's best throughput, radix (number of ports), telemetry, buffer size, programmability and power efficiency for data centers.

"Networking silicon solutions in the market today are generic, one-size-fits-all approaches and as a result, sub-optimal for data-centers. Innovium has used a unique, singular focus on data centers to deliver the strongest set of switch capabilities that dramatically advance the future of data centers," said Rajiv Khemani, CEO & Co-founder of Innovium. "Equally important, we have assembled one of the strongest execution teams for rapid, high-volume deployments. We are excited to be working with leading switch system and data center customers as we execute on our mission."

Modern, Standards-based Software

Innovium offers a comprehensive software solution which includes the TERALYNX Software Development Kit (SDK), example application code, standard APIs, network operating system (NOS) software and services for seamless, accelerated deployment. The SDK delivers rich functionality along with high performance and high availability capabilities critical for data centers. It supports open APIs including OCP SAI (News - Alert) (Switch Abstraction Interface) for easy integration with NOS software as well as APIs to unlock TERALYNX's FLASHLIGHT analytics and automation capabilities.

Ready for Today's Networks as well as 50G PAM4 I/O Deployments

TERALYNX enables customers to deploy switches easily with today's 10G or 25G NRZ infrastructure for 10/25/50/100G Ethernet connectivity with up to 128 ports of 100GbE Ethernet using a single chip. This leverages the widely available infrastructure of DAC/optical cables and SFP/QSFP-based optical modules. Additionally, 50G PAM4 I/O is being urgently demanded by major data center operators to scale performance and meaningfully reduce cost per bit. TERALYNX supports PAM4 I/O to enable seamless transition without forklift upgrades. Innovium has been working closely with leading optics partners who will deliver 200/400G optical modules in QSFP56, QSFP-DD and OSFP form-factors to provide improved bandwidth and faceplate density at lower cost per bit.
