SXSW is Full of Thrills. Pieces Tech is Giving it a Heart
Each year, thousands travel to Austin to see what's next in technology.
This time, Dallas-based healthcare IT startup Pieces Tech is exhibiting
at SXSW (News - Alert) - but they're bringing the community with them.
By partnering with local nonprofits that serve families and individuals
in North Texas, the tech company will be using their exhibit as a
platform to raise awareness of community resources that serve vulnerable
populations. These are the same resources that benefit from their
community-connected software, Pieces Iris™, which enables these
organizations to connect and communicate in entirely new ways - between
social service organizations, hospitals, and even to clinics.
"On average, we could spend $5 to $8 per item on conference give-aways
for each visitor that comes to our booth at SXSW Interactive," says Paul
Ceverha of Pieces Tech, "but we thought we could use that money to raise
awareness and money for the organizations that are on the front lines of
providing for the social needs of the community."
Pieces Iris™ is a SaaS (News - Alert) platform that connects social service
organizations with healthcare providers to address the economic and
social determinants of health. Visitors to the Pieces Tech Booth at SXSW
will have the opportunity to "pay it forward" to one of their
social-service oriented clients who already use Iris.
