Zoomcar Brings Audi on as OEM Partner

BENGALURU, February 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

Now Travel in an Audi Q3 With Zoomcar

Zoomcar, India's first 100% self-drive car rental company, announced its partnership with Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer. Zoomcar consumers can now book an Audi Q3 in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata via the Zoomcar mobile app or the website http://www.zoomcar.com. The Audi Q3 is powerful and agile, compact and yet spacious inside, efficient and expressive. It can be rented out via the Zoomcar platform for INR 240/- per hour and this includes fuel, insurance, taxes, roadside assistance.

After their car booking mobile app, the company recently notched yet another first with the launch of marketplace model, ZAP to further improve the customers experience and service quality with Zoomcar. ZAP launched in 2016, allows individuals to purchase vehicles on behalf of Zoomcar, list the vehicle on a dynamic basis on its platform when sitting idle, and then finally share in the profit on a monthly basis. The company has witnessed robust adoption with over 20,000 registrations for the program till date. Zoomcar expects this marketplace model will account for over 550% of its overall vehicle inventory by mid-2017. The model will allow Zoomcar to reach a fleet size of >25,000 across 50+ cities by the end of 2018. Along the way, Zoomcar  will also significantly expand its current airport offering across all cities to better cater to booming demand.

"Audi's confidence in Zoomcar allows us to extend our reach even further, bringing the taste of high performing luxury vehicles to a wider cross section of aspiring Indian consumers," said Zoomcar CEO, Greg Moran. "It is our goal to accelerate the expansion of our successful ZAP business model to integrate these new shared mobility products into the market as soon as possible. We are confident that this will be a compelling alternative to 'car ownership' and help revolutionize the way personal transportation is viewed in the city in the years tocome. Introducing a true car sharing model is a simple, yet powerful example of how technology can transform our cities. We're just now at a fundamental paradigm-shift across the country."

Zoomcar recently launched 'Cadabra', its flagship full stack solution for transforming the in-car user experiences. Equipped with Bluetooth and 4G cellular connectivity, Cadabra tracks information that includes fuel levels, clutch position, harsh braking, inconsistent acceleration, seat belt usage, and engine health (among others). The solution also offers the possibility of over the air updates (OTA) and this will help Zoomcar to add even more functionality later this quarter. Cadabra will be deployed across ZAP to improve the car ownership experience and help the owner save costs and reduce accidents.

"Audi has always been committed towards pioneering mobility solutions, embodying 'Vorsprung durch Technik'. Zoomcar represents both visionary car rental and modern mobility. It's no secret that the Audi Q3 is one of the most popular models in our product portfolio. We are pleased to see that luxury aficionados in the country can now experience our youngest SUVs in India in such a flexible way," said Mr. Rahil Ansari, Head, Audi India.

Zoomcar is targeted towards the segment of urban dwellers who don't want to own a car, so, the company has launched 'KLE' - keyless entry, which allows consumers to unlock the cars through an app and can pick up the car and drop them off at various points across your neighbourhood. If you can't find your keys, simply use your smartphone. If you can't find your phone, use your car keys. If you want to loan your car to a friend or rent it to a paying stranger, you send an access code to their phone. The phone talks to the car via GPRS and Bluetooth. The device sits under the bonnet and doesn't require any modifications to the vehicle itself.

Zoomcar will work closely with the Audi team to develop even more innovative mobility solutions for urban consumers in the months ahead. Both companies are dedicated to improving urban mobility through the introduction of more convenient, flexible, and engaging product offerings.

Zoomcar recently raised $24 million in its Series B round of investment. The investment was led by Ford Smart Mobility LLC, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, with existing investors Sequoia Capital, Empire Angel, Nokia Growth Partners, OurCrowd and Cyber Carrier CL also participating in the round.
