School Choice Fair to Highlight Local Charter Options

Parents will have the opportunity to meet with charter school representatives and select the best option for their children at a charter school fair for National School Choice Week.

Elected officials will be speaking at the event, including Assembly-member Steven Choi, Santa Ana Councilmember Juan Villegas, Executive Director/Co-Founder of Scholarship Prep Charter School and retired Sen. Gloria Romero, Santa Ana USD Trustee Cecilia Iglesias and actor Noel Gugliemi. The Orange (News - Alert) County School Choice Fair will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at NOVA Academy Early College High School in Santa Ana.

Parents interested in learning more about their options for their children's education are especially invited to attend. There will be food and entertainment.

The event will take place during National School Choice Week, which will be celebrated at more than 21,000 events across the country Jan. 22-28.

I believe parents and community benefit from school choice options," Iglesias said. "National School Choice Week brings awareness to the different school choice models available to our families and it empowers parents to exercise their right to choose the best quality public school option for their children. When parents choose, students win."

As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
