Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business Partners with the Center for Conscientious Leadership to Launch the "Conscientious Capitalism Initiative"

Beginning this month, Santa Clara Leavey School of Business (LSB) students will be given the opportunity to learn firsthand from seasoned executives how successful leaders apply personal virtues and purpose in their careers.

The Conscientious Capitalism Initiative will feature case studies and lectures by former CEOs and leaders from organizations such as Starbucks, eBay (News - Alert), Google Ventures and the Navy SEALs. The goal of this new initiative is to give students the tools and frameworks for applying virtue and purpose to their personal development and their growth as business leaders.

The initiative is being offered through a new partnership between the Leavey School of Business and the Center for Conscientious Leadership - an organization founded and led by Chip Adams, former managing partner at Rosewood Capital, who is a former executive at Under Armour and current board meber there and at several private companies.

"We are very excited to offer our students this dynamic new leadership initiative," said LSB Dean Caryn Beck-Dudley. "The inspiration our students will receive from accomplished and conscientious leaders is much needed today. And the Conscientious Capitalism curriculum is a strong fit with the Jesuit values of Santa Clara and the mission of the Leavey School."

"The combination of insights from leaders sharing their own journeys and the mentoring students receive will provide ongoing self-discovery and a framework students can use to lead themselves and others in an increasingly global and complex business environment," said Adams.

The new Conscientious Capitalism initiative at SCU features an upper-division business course for 21 accepted seniors, Conscientious Capitalism, and a speaker series organized within the Leavey School and offered to the broader SCU community.
