Quicken Hires Tim Villanueva as Chief Technology Officer

Quicken Inc., the company behind America's #1 personal finance software for more than 30 years, today announced it has appointed Tim Villanueva as chief technology officer, effective immediately. In this role, Villanueva will lead the company's product development organization, and champion product innovation for Quicken's Mac, Windows, and mobile offerings. He will also lead a significant ramp up in hiring of engineers to enable the company to accelerate its pace of product improvements, building off the recent introduction of Quicken 2017. Most recently, he served as chief technology officer of IAC's Ask.com business and was also a technical advisor on Quicken's board.

"Building on the strong product development organization already in place, we were looking for a leader to take Quicken's products to the next level. Tim's level of expertise in scaling global engineering organizations and in delivering state-of-the-art cloud-based offerings was impressive and made him the ideal leader for us to add to our team," said Eric Dunn, chief executive officer of Quicken Inc. "In addition, Tim is a trusted colleague of ours and familiar with Quicken's products, customers, and company goals. We're thrilled tohave him on board."

Villanueva joins Quicken with 25+ years of software leadership experience, having held a number of CTO roles managing teams of 200+ developers including at Fundly and Kabam. He's also held VP and engineering positions at several high-profile companies including Hewlett-Packard (News - Alert), Yahoo!, and PayPal, and worked in product management, business development, and product development at Intuit, Quicken's previous owner. Villanueva played a key role in the development of the early Quicken products, both as a principal engineer on Quicken's Windows 1.0 release and then as the Quicken Architect who defined the technical direction of Quicken releases in the early 1990's.

"Quicken is a brand and product that I've been proud to advise and contribute to over the years," said Villanueva. "This team is strong, dedicated and loyal and I'm excited to be a part of a company that's revolutionizing people's financial lives and continuously innovating. Joining Quicken as CTO feels like I'm coming home."

Quicken recently launched its 2017 product line including Mac, Starter Edition, Deluxe, Premier, Home & Business and Rental Property Manager. The entire Quicken team is more focused than ever on delivering products that help consumers in every stage of life reach their financial goals. Since Quicken began operating independently on March 31 of this year, the company has significantly expanded its product development and customer care teams in order to deliver the product enhancements most requested by its users. Quicken has over 100 employees and will continue to hire, particularly in the area of product development.
