Fort Smith Mayor Attends Partnership Grant Check Presentation from Six BanksFort Smith Mayor Sandy Sanders will join bank representatives at a check presentation to benefit Strategic Community Investments (SCI) on Monday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Garrison Commons Pocket Park at 913 Garrison Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas. SCI received $29,900 in Partnership Grant Program (PGP (News - Alert)) funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), Arvest Bank, Bank of the Ozarks, Centennial Bank, First National Bank, and Simmons Bank. The media is encouraged to attend. Presented annually, PGP grants are awarded to community-based organizations. The grants may be used for research, organizational capacity-building, grant- and funding-application assistance, or contractual services. The grant funds will be used for research and studies related to the development of The Propelling Downtown Forward master plan for Fort Smith. "Great change cannot occur without great partnerships," said Mayor Sanders. "Through the Partnership Grant Program, these six banks exemplify the true meaning of partnership and commitment to community. I look forward to the changes that will occur as a result of the grants." SCI was founded in 2005 with the purpose of increasing neighborhood stabilization in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
