Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS) supports NASA UTM program


SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- UTM Convention 2016

On Wednesday November 9th, Dr. Chris Walach, Director of Operations for Unmanned Aviation with the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS) & Director of the FAA-designated Nevada UAS Test Site will join other FAA-designated UAS Test Sites in a UTM and beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) discussion at the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA)—UTM Convention.  "The test sites have demonstrated their great value in the NASA UTM program.  Going forward, we will continue to collaborate with NASA on validating sense and avoid technologies and command and control infrastructure that will support BVLOS UAS flight operations.  Thi will also be of great value to the commercial UAS Industry as a whole," said Dr. Chris Walach.  BVLOS is the next wave of the future for Unmanned Aviation and the safe and full integration of UAS into the NAS. 



Attend the Session "Updates from the Field - UAS Test Ranges." The UAS test range discussion will be held during Breakout Session 1, from 11:15 – 12:30 in Room 1/2/3.
