Tim Zanni Appointed Global and U.S. Chair of KPMG's Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG International today announced Tim Zanni has been appointed the new Global and U.S. Chair of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) industry practice, effective 1 January 2017. Concurrently, Zanni has been appointed Global and U.S. Sector Head of the Technology practice within TMT.

Tim Zanni has been appointed Global and U.S. Chair of KPMG's Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice, effective 1 January 2017.

Based in Silicon Valley (California, U.S.), Zanni succeeds Gary Matuszak who is retiring after 14 years of service in technology leadership roles at KPMG in the U.S. including serving as the Global Chairman of the TMT practice for the past 12 years.

Zanni will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the TMT practice in KPMG member firms around the world. He has more than 30 years of global experience in client services as well as managing various KPMG lines of business.

"KPMG's TMT practice combines global perspective with technical experience to provide insights that help TMT business leaders deal with today's rapidly changing market," said Nick Chism, KPMG's Deputy Global Head of Sales and Markets. "Tim's significant experience and a deep understanding of today's technology-driven business environment makes him the ideal individual to work with and support clients."

"Tim is a recognized leader in serving technology businesses as they navigate this highly complex business environment, and we're confident that his vision, industry knowledge and leadership will help further strengthen and build the TMT practice," said Rob Arning, vice chair, Market Development at KPMG in the U.S.

"The incredible amount of innovation and disruption that is taking place right now makes this an exciting time to be working with TMT companies," said Zanni. "The impact of disruptive technologies, increased competition and technology-driven industry convergence presents some challenges for clients but also great opportunities for those who can understand and embrace it.

Zanni joined KPMG in the U.S. in 1988, was admitted to the partnership in 1997, and became Silicon Valley managing partner in 2009, the role he has held for the past seven years.

Zanni is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He graduated from the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, U.S.) with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and frequently lectures at the school's college of business administration.
