"Far too many times I've been inspired by the headlines, but have wondered: what can I do about it? This is why we created Action Button - to channel that inspiration into impact," said Jordan Hewson, founder and CEO of Speakable. "The media industry has seen an influx of products that optimize the consumption and distribution of digital content, however, there's a lack oftools enabling action. Action Button fills this gap by turning passive readers into powerful activists. Our mission at Speakable is to make civic engagement more accessible and effective, and future products will build upon this as we aim to create a world where everyone is empowered to have an instant impact."

Action Button is powered by a matching algorithm that connects digital content to a relevant action and vetted NGO partner so that readers are connected to the best opportunities to have an impact. Future iterations of the product will incorporate artificial intelligence and machine learning into the process to continually improve the recommendations. The company's in-house policy team vets all NGO partners, selectively teaming up with those that have the most impact and use funds appropriately.

"As one of the world's largest human rights organizations, we know firsthand that those who care about important global issues also have a tremendous ability to have an impact," said Agnes Hall, Amnesty International's Global Digital Campaigns Manager. "Action Button allows us to reach different audiences around the world who are passionate about these global issues and enable them to have an immediate impact."

Action Button enables NGOs to increase the number of people taking civic action in support of global and domestic causes. For publishers, their audiences are able to interact with content in a more meaningful way.

"Our new channel, VICE Impact, will create advocacy initiatives that leverage the content creation and global distribution capabilities of VICE across our entire network," said Katherine Keating, Publisher at VICE Impact. "Action Button will empower our audience to further engage with our content and take action on the issues that matter most to them."

Speakable, the company behind Action Button, was founded in 2015 and has raised capital from leading investors across technology and media industries. The first iteration of Action Button was built by BCG Digital Ventures and previously featured in beta on The Huffington Post. Advisors to the company include Arianna Huffington, founder and CEO of Thrive Global, Joe Cerrell, Managing Director of Global Policy & Advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Oscar Salazar, co-founder of Uber.
