Yewno Appoints Sumit Malhotra to CTO Position

Yewno, a provider of a new inference engine that mimics the human brain and increases knowledge discovery, today announced that software industry leader Sumit Malhotra has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Malhotra, most recently with Oracle (News - Alert) Corporation, will play a pivotal role in shaping Yewno's technology strategy, including leading its engineering team and driving continued innovation of Yewno's solutions. The Yewno for Education inference engine was launched in June of this year as the first in a suite of vertical-market focused solutions.

"Sumit brings to Yewno a unique blend of deep engineering experience combined with a successful management track record having worked in leadership roles at major technology innovators," said Ruggero Gramatica, founder and CEO of Yewno. "Sumit understands that people in every field of business and in every aspect of life today are hungry not only for information but for new paths to learning and to knowing more vs. simply stumbling upon fragmented and incomplete answers they get from traditional information services and search engines."

Yewno's innovative approach through its inference engine provides an entirely new way to knowledge discovery by mimicking the human brain. The solution integrates machine learning, cognitive science, neural networking and computational linguistics into a highly visual, contextual mapping of tremendous amounts of data and information.

According to Malhotra, Yewno has identified a growing need for knowledge among true knowledg seekers who are frustrated with existing discovery and search solutions. "Yewno has discovered a new and insightful path to discovery that works the way our brains work," said Malhotra. "This type of discovery path simply does not exist today and I'm excited to join this impressive team and to work together to bring the Yewno inference engine to key vertical markets and to the masses."

Prior to joining Yewno, Malhotra was the Senior Director of Software Development at Oracle where he managed software development for the data cloud group. He joined Oracle through the $1.2B acquisition of Datalogix, where he served as the Senior Director of Engineering. At Datalogix he drove the opening of and managed the company's Silicon Valley office where he led the engineering group. Prior to Datalogix, he served as Chief Architect and Director of Engineering at Acxiom (News - Alert), where his role included building and leading the analytics and data and engineering teams. He has also held engineering positions with Yahoo, ShareThis and Kinetics (acquired by NCR) and has been a part of two profitable startup acquisitions.

Malhotra holds a B.E. in computer science from the University of Mumbai and a Master's in computer science from Florida Tech. Some of his specialties include cloud computing, data mining, high-performance processing/analysis, distributed computing, infrastructure design and development, indexing and search technologies.
