Lookout Integrates With Microsoft Enterprise Mobility and Security to Secure Mobile Productivity

Lookout, the global leader in securing mobility, has announced the general availability of its integration of Lookout Mobile Endpoint Security with Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS). This integrated solution offers business customers the freedom and flexibility of mobile productivity, with enhanced capabilities for securing enterprise data and assets, including the ability to control access to company resources and data based on risk assessments provided by Lookout.

"Mobile devices and app usage in the workplace continue to expand, challenging IT leaders to optimize the balance between embracing mobility and ensuring security," said Santosh Krishnan, chief product officer at Lookout. "Lookout brings robust mobile threat intelligence to Microsoft's (News - Alert) identity and mobile management technology, as well as a deep understanding of the increasingly app-centric enterprise ecosystem. Together, we empower IT to enable their workforce with secure mobile productivity."

"The digital transformation that's affecting every organization brings with it increasingly sophisticated threats - and mobile devices are at the forefront of many cyber-attacks," said Brad Anderson, corporate vice president of Enterprise Mobility for Microsoft. "The integration between Lookout and Microsoft EMS helps ensure that, despite this increased risk, any enterprise can benefit from mobile productivity with the assurance that their corporate assets are better protected."

As employees increasingly rely on mobile devices to be productive, the amount of corporate data that's accessible by these devices grows, making the mobile device a critical endpont to secure. With the integrated Lookout and Microsoft EMS solution, customers can:

Enable mobile productivity with peace of mind that devices are secured

Microsoft EMS provides an identity-driven security solution that offers a holistic approach to the security challenges in this mobile-first, cloud-first era. Lookout complements Microsoft EMS' identity-based security with its rich mobile threat intelligence by continuously monitoring devices for threats, passing that information directly to Microsoft Intune to inform conditional access decisions. Lookout protects against threats across three attack vectors:

1. App-based threats: Trojans, spyware, rootkits, as well as non-compliant apps that leak sensitive data

2. Network-based threats: man-in-the-middle and SSL attacks that can steal encrypted data-in-transit

3. OS-based threats: Advanced jailbreaking of iOS devices and rooting of Android (News - Alert) devices

Control access to corporate resources based on mobile risks

Conditional access policies within Microsoft EMS today allow an enterprise to protect corporate resources from unauthorized access based on customizable factors, such as location, device and user state, application sensitivity and risk. In the Lookout and Microsoft EMS integrated solution, if a device is determined to be non-compliant due to a mobile risk identified by Lookout, access to resources like Microsoft Office 365 can be blocked using Microsoft EMS conditional access policies. When access is blocked, end users are provided a walkthrough by Lookout to help resolve the issue and regain access to company resources.

Seamlessly manage and secure fleets of mobile devices

The Lookout and Microsoft EMS solution can be rapidly delivered to large fleets of enterprise mobile devices. The combined solution allows for seamless deployment and management of the Lookout client app via Microsoft Intune, provides integrated policy management for users and groups, and offers single sign-on for both end users and administrators via Microsoft Azure Active Directory.

Several early access customers, including a large insurance company, a major healthcare provider, and a top public accounting and business advisory firm, were given the opportunity to test the integration over the last several weeks, before it became generally available. The companies are also in the process of onboarding a number of Microsoft channel partners.
