Joel Brenner and Edward Snowden Address Security vs. Privacy Debate at Fourth Annual Privacy XChange Forum

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The fourth annual Privacy XChange Forum (PxF) will be held on October 16 – 18 at the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. This year, PxF will focus on the pervasiveness of cyber threats in a world of never-ending, ever-evolving attacks on an organization's most valuable asset: information. Attendees will hear from world-class experts on emerging threats, domestic and international legislation impacting their organization's data policies and the steps needed to mitigate risk after an attack. The conference is hosted by IDT911, a leading provider of identity and data risk management, resolution and education services.

Keynote speakers will span the spectrum of the privacy and security debate. Joel Brenner, Former National Counter-Intelligence Executive and one of the nation's preeminent experts on counterintelligence and cybersecurity, will open the conference with a discussion on the new security environment and its implications for organizations. Brenner served as Senior Counsel at the National Security Agency, advising agency leadership on the public-private effort to create better security for the internet. He specializes in cyber and physical security, data protection and privacy and intelligence law.

Edward Snowden, whistle-blower and ex-CIA employee, will livestream from Russia to share the discoveries he has made since leaking information on the NSA's global surveillance programs and to evaluate the state of privacy today. His revelations have generated unprecedented attention around the world on privacy intrusions and digital security, leading to a global debate on the issue.

Other notable speakers include Charlie Miller, Cyber Security Researcher at Uber Advanced Technologies Ceter, and Chris Valasek, Security Lead at Uber Advanced Technologies Center, who famously demonstrated remote car-hacking of a Jeep Cherokee last year. Also speaking at the conference is Chris Vickery, Security Expert at MacKeeper, best known for uncovering an exposed database of U.S. registered voters.

Sessions at Privacy XChange Forum 2016 include:

  • The Yin and Yang of Privacy and Security: Striking a Balance
  • Data Aggregation: How to Evaluate Risk from the Inside Out
  • How to Lifehack Your Incident Response Plan
  • Where in the World: A Quick and Easy Breakdown of Privacy Standards and Regulations
  • The Great Debate: Can We Strike a Balance Between Privacy and Protection?

"In today's environment of cyber insecurity, billions of devices virtually track our every move, gathering, storing and disseminating our most sensitive personal information to public and private organizations both with and without our consent. We willingly over-share the most intimate details of our private lives on social media. And, because our data is what they want, sophisticated, creative and persistent cyber criminals target our families, businesses and government agencies—making everyone a celebrity and no one safe. The Cyber War has replaced the Cold War. Personal privacy is on life-support and business data and government secrets are all vulnerable to social engineering attacks, phishing scams, ransomware schemes and insider threats," said Conference Co-Chair, Founder of IDT911 and Credit.com and Author of Swiped, Adam Levin. "The Privacy XChange Forum will arm executives across all industries with advanced strategies and tactics to protect their organization, employees and customers from cyber threats."
