Healthcare professionals favor Clinton over Trump in Aprima Medical Software poll

DALLAS, Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Aprima Medical Software announced today the results of a recent poll of healthcare professionals which found Democrat Hillary Clinton to be the presidential candidate most believed would benefit their physician office practice. Clinton edged Republican candidate Donald Trump 48% to 36% in voting that was open to participants of the Aprima 2016 User Conference August 4-7 in Dallas.

In an anonymous and non-scientific poll, 85 physician practice professionals, including physicians and their clinical and administrative staff, cast their vote for the presidential candidate they believe would most benefit their practice. The voters work across 23 different specialties and mostly within independent physician offices. The participants are based throughout the country, with the largest concentrations from Texas (19%) and Michigan (15%). More than 10% of the conference participants chose to vote in the poll.

"Though we originally conceived of the presidential poll as a fun diversion during our annual user group conference, the unpredictability and uncertainty with this year's election cycle make the results particularly compelling," said Michael Nissenbaum, president and CEO of Aprima. "Our clients, most of whom work in independent physician offices, are concerned about a variety of issues and trends, from new payment models, the aging population and declines in reimbursements. I will defer to the political pundits to come up with theories about why our poll turned out as it did."
