New Cyber Resilience Coalition Enhances Security DefenseBlack Hat Conference - Mimecast Limited (NASDAQ: MIME), a leading email and data security company, today announced its Cyber Resilience Coalition (CRC), bringing together leading security, data protection and business continuity vendors to help organizations strengthen their approach to cyber resilience. Joining the Coalition as a founding member and go-to-market partner is PhishMe, a global provider of human phishing defense solutions for the enterprise. Together, Mimecast and PhishMe will arm organizations with anti-phishing cloud security services and immersive behavioral conditioning and phishing reporting for employees. "Collaboration between security innovators is essential to combating cyber threats aimed at employees," said Allan Carey, vice president of business development at PhishMe. "This alliance will enable us to bring together critical security resources for enhanced email security and threat detection. Collectively, PhishMe and Mimecast will work to combat cybercrime globally by executing on a human phishing defense strategy." As seen in Mimecast's recent research, there is a major gap many organizations are experiencing when it comes to cyber resilience planning. One aspect the data highlights is that more than 60 percent of IT security managers currently don't conduct simulated securty incidents. Results suggest, simulated security incidents are the most important security training practices to have in place - among other training exercises including safe spear-phishing tests, regular security training and safe social engineering tests - to defend against email-based threats. "As most organizations become fully operationally dependent on the cloud and third-party technology infrastructures, they need to take a fresh and comprehensive look at their security, data protection, business continuity and employee training practices," said Peter Bauer, CEO, Mimecast. "Through our partnership with PhishMe, organizations will get the resources they need for a well-rounded cyber resilience strategy: proven technology and immersive behavioral conditioning. Together, we will give organizations the visibility and control needed to more effectively fight email-based advanced threats while helping users understand good security practices." "The continued success of phishing attacks - and the fact that this success is fundamentally predicated on getting humans to respond - seems to indicate a gap between the technology solutions that companies provide and the ability of people to play a more active role in defense," said Scott Crawford, research director of information security with 451 Research (News - Alert). "The coordination of output from Mimecast's services with PhishMe's established learning platform offers a provocative combination to help close that gap. The concept of a coalition of companies to help guide customers toward a better security posture makes sense, and I'll be interested to see how this comes together."
