After breaking ground last month in Germany on one of the largest battery energy storage (BESS) projects in the world, Nidec ASI has won yet another key energy storage deal wtih Advantec Co. Ltd., citing its first order for a photovoltaic (PV) power plant with battery energy storage in Japan. The industrial solutions multinational will supply a complete power and energy management system for a PV plant located on Hokkaido Island. <start_newscom> Supporting Advantec in its supply and installment of a solar power plant of 6MWc, Nidec ASI will provide four power conversion systems and Energy Storage System (ESS) containers for a total capacity of 6 MW and 6 MWh. The news of the recent agreement comes just one month after Nidec ASI laid the foundation on a massive BESS project for German power giant STEAG. The 90-MW project is being installed in six sites across the North-Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland regions to stabilize Germany's power grid. Japan is among the top three countries accounting for the majority of the global Solar PV market, which has seen robust growth in recent years, being fueled by new government policis to reduce CO2 emissions.
