Mimecast Wins Network Security Award at Computing Vendor Excellence Awards

Mimecast Limited (NASDAQ: MIME), a leading email and data security company, today announced it has won the Network Security Award at the Computing Vendor Excellence Awards event.

The awards celebrate the achievements of the technology vendors and service providers who are leading the field of enterprise IT with innovative products, services and solutions that underpin and drive success in both business and public sector organizations. Judges were drawn from a panel of CIOs and selected members of Computing's editorial staff.

WatchGuard Technologies were highly commended. Other shortlisted entrants included Check Point Software (News - Alert) Technologies (CHKP), Darktrace, Gigamon (GIMO) and LogRhythm.

Steven Malone, Mimecast director of security product management, commented, "In the post-infrastructure era, the network is no longer defined by the perimeter. Email is the number one attack vector, with evolving spear-phishing and social engineering techniques piercing right into the heart of organizations. Network security must begin with email security for comprehensive cyber resiliency."

Mimecast Email Security with Targeted Threat Protection is a cloud-based email security service that helps protect organizations against advanced spear-phishing, spam and malware without the need to deploy any on-premises hardware or software:

  • URL Protect protects employees against targeted attacks in email with real-time, on-click, every-click URL scanning to offer instant protection across all devices
  • Attachment Protect uniquely adds a transcription service that automatically converts attachments into a safe file format, neutralizing malicious code. Should the employee need to edit the attachment, they can request it be sandboxed on-demand and delivered in the original file format
  • Impersonation Protect directly combats the cybersecurity threat from social engineering attacks in email, often called whaling, CEO fraud, W-2 fraud or business email compromise
  • Mimecast's Dynamic User Awareness helps admins regularly prompt employees with contextual warnings and identify patterns of security behavior and allows network administrators to identify higher-risk users for more targeted offline security training

Mimecast email security customers include a 79,000-seat local government organization, a 35,000-user global professional services firm, and a 36,000-user media group.
