Boise ISD Adopts New Voting Technology for September Election

BOISE, Idaho, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With an eye on efficiency and transparency, Boise Independent School District is the latest jurisdiction in Idaho to choose Hart InterCivic's Verity® Voting system.  Verity will replace time-consuming hand counting with easier, more accurate ballot scanning technology. The approach is expected to save time, yield faster results and provide better transparency and accountability if a recount is ever needed.

Boise-area voters will recognize the new ballot marking device as the same intuitive technology launched successfully in Ada County in February. The familiar system means an easy transition for voters and poll workers.

"We welcome Boise schools to our growing Hart family in Idaho, and we were happy to hear tat Verity's success in Ada County influenced their choice," said Phillip Braithwaite, President and CEO of Hart InterCivic.

"We now have six partners in Idaho, and jurisdictions are beginning to see the advantages of learning and sharing with each other.  These successes contribute to Verity's momentum in the Northwest."

Hart staff will be in Boise to train poll workers on the simple-to-use Verity system in July, and BISD officials plan to roll it out for the Sept. 7 Board of Trustees election. In the past, up to 6,000 printed ballots were hand counted, a drawn-out process ripe for human error. In September, paper ballots will be processed electronically at one location using Verity.

Officials seeking a demonstration of the Verity system should call 512-252-6409.
