Make July 10 National Chronic Disease Awareness Day with Good Days

Across the United States, seven out of every 10 people will die from chronic disease. The fiscal price of managing the high levels of chronic disease across the country consume 86 percent of our nation's total health care costs.

However, the most common chronic disease conditions, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes and obesity, are also the most preventable.

There are a host of issues involved in treating chronic disease: family support, community services, as well as psychological support. Treating chronic disease also includes practical issues like travel to the medical appointments, absenteeism at work or school and helping your family understand your state of health. With or without medical insurance, many medications are too expensive for patients to afford or do not fall within the offerings of a patient's insurance plan.

Long-term lifestyle changes are the most effective way to prevent chronic illness such as smoking cessation and a healthy diet. Across the country, we need to work towards decreasing the rates of preventable chronic diseases. An increase in general public knowledge about chronic illness will help patients as they seek support and solutions for their conditions.

<>Join Good Days in recognizing 7/10 as National Chronic Disease Awareness Day, because seven out of 10 people succumbing to chronic disease is too many.

To show your support, we are asking everyone to share a social media post on how chronic disease has impacted you or a family member, or to share one of our suggested social media posts:
