Chris DeWolfe's SGN buys TinyCo, maker of Family Guy and Marvel Avengers mobile games

LOS ANGELES, July 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SGN, the fast-growing independent Los Angeles mobile gaming company led by MySpace cofounder and former CEO Chris DeWolfe, announced today that it has acquired TinyCo, the Andreessen Horowitz-backed San Francisco studio behind the Marvel Avengers Academy and Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff games.

Its third acquisition since receiving a $130 million investment from South Korea's Netmarble Games last July, SGN's most recent strategic purchase helps the 400-person company realize its longtime vision of becoming a titan in mobile gaming - one of the fastest growing media sectors in the world growing 20% annually and ten times the rate of the console and PC game industries.

Suli Ali, TinyCo's CEO and cofounder, will continue running the 125-person team, which officially joined SGN's 275 employees on Thursday. TinyCo's popular games including--Family Guy and Marvel Avengers Academy--have been downloaded more than 100 million times since April 2014. The company, which is currently developing more mobile games based on globally recognizable Hollywood brands, expects to generate more than $100 million in revenue this year.
