Syniverse Optimizes Roaming for Djibouti Telecom

Syniverse today announced it has expanded its relationship with Djibouti Telecom through an agreement to deliver a suite of solutions for performance analysis, forecasting and budget management, and fraud protection. The agreement builds on a multiyear relationship with Djibouti's state-owned mobile operator that will strengthen Syniverse's (News - Alert) presence in East Africa and a growing national market with more than 330,000 mobile connections.

"With mobile users having more choices than ever before and with the demand for mobile service only increasing, it's critical for us to continually deliver value to our customers wherever they travel with their mobile devices," said Mohamed Assoweh Bouh, General Director, Djibouti Telecom. "Our work with Syniverse will help ensure that we deliver the highest level of customer service."

The services offered through the agreement enable Djibouti Telecom to gain visibility into and manage its end-users' experiences while protecting the network from fraud and controlling costs. Roaming Data Analysis-Visibility Services provide real-time access to roaming performance data through an easy-to-use window that aggregates all subscriber data in a single view. Forecasting and Budget Management-Optimizer automates the planning, forecasting and budget process to help make the operator's roaming interoperator tariff (IT) discount negotiations more profitable. And Roaming Fraud Protection offers Djibouti Telecom a managed service that includes an analyst team and a cloud-based application that monitors roaming data globally for suspicious behaviors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"No matter where today's mobile users travel, they continue to expect the same quality of experience at all times," said Nour Al Atassi, Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Syniverse. "Syniverse will enable Djibouti Telecom to meet this demand by delivering the highest level of roaming service to its customers. We look forward to helping Djibouti Telecom to more seamlessly connect to the largest number of operators, manage IOTs and budget more accurately, and minimize the growing threat of fraud."

Syniverse's agreement with Djibouti Telecom builds on a long relationship with the operator and a string of accomplishments around the world that Syniverse unveiled in 2015. Syniverse recently announced that it contributed to major industry milestones by enabling U.S. and Japanese operators to implement the world's first transoceanic VoLTE roaming call and then by enabling South Korea's LG Uplus to launch the world's first commercial VoLTE (Voice over LTE) roaming service.
