The Next Level of Gaming Hardware and Overclocking Converged at COMPUTEX 2016COMPUTEX, the leading global ICT show with a complete supply chain, was the nexus of the gaming universe from May 31 to June 4, as more than 30 leading manufacturers of gaming hardware converged to display, demonstrate, and discuss the industry's latest wares, including PCs, laptops, monitors, motherboards, cooling systems, cases, and graphics processing units (GPUs). Meanwhile, the world's top overclockers competed for cash prizes and advancement in HWBOT's World Series 2016, where COMPUTEX was one of seven locations worldwide for the first time. Competitors used hundreds of liters of liquid nitrogen each day, creating a cooling fog around the PC components driven beyond their performance specifications. Gaming, eSports and mobile research firm Newzoo forecasts that the worldwide gaming market will grow from $91.5 billion USD in 2015 to $113.3 billion by 2018 and the global eSports market from $325 million USD in 2015 to $1.1 billion by 2019. In response to this explosive worldwide growth, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the organizer of COMPUTEX, designated gaming as one of the show's four main themes. "In today's era, new performance thresholds in gaming are continually required to meet consumer demand for speed, graphics, interactivity, and virtual reality," said Walter Yeh, executive vice president of COMPUTEX organizer TAITRA. "To the delight of gaming industry aficionados and enthusiasts, we were proud to have brought to this year's exhibition the vanguard of technology leaders meeting these demands." Among the companies displaying new gaming products at COMPUTEX were Acer, Gigabyte, MSI (News - Alert), and Thermaltake. Acer, hich won eight d&i awards at COMPUTEX this year, displayed its Predator X34 curved gaming monitor, ultrawide at 34 inches and with a 21:9 aspect ratio (3440 x1440) IPS display and NVIDIA (News - Alert) G-SYNC display technology. Gigabyte displayed its GTX 1080 XTREME GAMING graphics cards, XM300 6400DPI gaming mouse, XK700 mechanical switches gaming keyboard, XH300 gaming headset with bass enhancement, XC300 mid-tower case, XC700 full-tower case, and more. MSI displayed its barebones gaming PC, the Aegis, which features an ultra-aggressive and compact design that conceals a plethora of cutting-edge components, including support for up to full-sized NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 GPU, up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM (News - Alert), and dual NVMe PCI-E Gen3 x4 SSDs in Super RAID 4 with data speeds of up to 3300MB/s.
