Royal Caribbean Cruises selects Quintiq to optimize over 80,000 crew

Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes (News - Alert) company and global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has selected its software solution to optimize the assignment of more than 80,000 crew members across their various brands and ships globally.

The cruise operator has a vision to empower and enable their employees to deliver the best vacation experience. Having the right crew in place for every voyage is the first step in ensuring customer satisfaction. As a global company, Royal Caribbean needed a solution that could handle increasingly complex workforce planning conditions unique to the cruise business. Royal Caribbean's manual approach to crew planning and scheduling was time-consuming and left no room for optimization.

Quintiq (News - Alert) is able to incorporate all the rules, regulations and requirements of its planning environment. Royal Caribbean crew planners will no longer need to spend vast amounts of time manually incorporating these complex rules and requirements into plans. Quintiq's solution will also optimize plans to maximize the productivity and performance of their crew in order to lower operating costs while increasing workforce performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

"We are excited to have found a software solution that will enhance our employee experience as well as improve our ability to meet our business objectives by optimizing our scheduling process," said Paul Parker, Global Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Royal Caribbean. "We are looking forward to leveraging the technology to enhance our scheduling capabilities, resulting in improved cost efficiency, and higher employee (and customer) satisfaction levels with Quintiq."

"The Quintiq planning software provides a 100%-fit solution for any planning puzzle, no matter the size or complexity," said Rob van Egmond, CEO at Quintiq. "We are excited to be helping Royal Caribbean to optimize its crew planning efficiency and to exceed its business objectives."
