Fidelity® Sweeps Brokerage Industry Award Season with Winning Marks in Overall Value, Transparency, Innovation and Customer Experience


Fidelity Investments® announced today that in the first four months of 2016 it has been recognized for excellence in retail brokerage services from the following five separate independent third parties: (in alphabetical order) Barron's, Corporate Insight, Dynatrace, Investor's Business Daily and StockBrokers.com. Fidelity was recognized for its leadership in a number of categories including best online brokerage, price improvement, mobile apps, research, education, customer satisfaction and trading experience.

The five specific industry awards include:

Fidelity's Brokerage Platform Comes Highly Recommended
For the first time, Fidelity won Barron's 2016 Online Broker Ranking, receiving high marks in all categories. Out of the 16 online brokerage firms Barron's reviewed, Fidelity was ranked best-in-class for Trading Experience & Technology, Customer Service, Education and Security, and tied for Best Range of Offerings. Theresa W. Carey, author of the report, noted, "Fidelity Investments made it to the top this year due to the variety of trading and investing tools, and the quality of its trade execution." In addition to noting Fidelity's commitmen to price improvement, Carey lauded the company for investing in its technology and infrastructure to improve the customer experience.



Corporate Insight's 2015 Monitor Awards, which recognizes financial services firms for excellence in the online and offline experience they offer to customers, awarded Fidelity the highest overall number of Gold Monitor Awards including seven e-Monitor Golds for brokerage, two Mutual Fund Monitor Golds, two Advisor Monitor Golds and two Retirement Plan Golds. Repeating its No. 1 brokerage positioning year over year, Fidelity has received 54 Gold, 15 Silver and 5 Bronze for a total of 74 e-Monitor Awards since 2007, more than any other brokerage firm in the industry.

Likewise, Dynatrace recognized Fidelity for providing outstanding Web and mobile experiences, an award it has won every year since the award's inception in 2009. This year's Best of the Web 2016 Digital Performance Awards recognized Fidelity for providing outstanding performance and top digital experiences to online users. In his awards presentation, Seth Voorhies, Dynatrace's director of Digital Performance Insights, stated that the brokerage industry performed well as a whole, but "Fidelity clearly emerged as the leader."


For the second year in a row, Investor's Business Daily named Fidelity the top overall broker in its Best Online Stock Brokers 2016 Special Report. The online survey gathers opinions from more than 10,000 investors, and IBD editor Paul Katzeff noted, "This is Fidelity's second straight year grabbing first place overall. Fidelity earned the highest ratings from survey respondents in their assessments of online stock brokerages' research tools, portfolio analysis & reports, investment research, educational resources and trade reliability. It repeated as top dog in the first four…it's the newly crowned champ in the fifth."

StockBrokers.com named Fidelity No. 1 Overall Online Broker, including Best for Order Execution, Best for International Trading and Best for Email Support in its 2016 Online Broker Review of 13 brokerage firms. Winning Brokerage Platform Drives Strong Business Growth
Fidelity's retail brokerage business experienced strong growth in the first quarter of 2016. On average, investors opened more than 6,000 new retail brokerage accounts each trading day in the quarter, bringing the total to more than 17 million customer accounts with total assets of nearly $1.6 trillion.

Fidelity was also named Best Online Broker for Long-Term Investing (shared with one other), Best for Novices (shared with one other), and Best for In-Person Service (shared with four others), and was ranked first in the following categories: trading technology; range of offerings (tied with one other firm); and customer service, education, and security. Dynatrace 2016 Digital Experience Report: Best of the Web provides a comparative performance assessment for the largest companies across six major industries: banking, brokerage, insurance, media, retail, and travel. The report evaluates each company's digital experience delivery throughout 2015. When Dynatrace used a trade quote to assess transaction performance and speed, Fidelity emerged as the clear leader across all industries. We beat the competition for brokerage website and mobile load time, availability, and consistency.

Investor's Business Daily (IBD), January 2015 and 2016 Best Online Brokers Special Reports. January 2015: Fidelity ranked in the top five in 9 out of 11 categories-more than any other competitor. Fidelity was named first in Research Tools, Investment Research, Portfolio Analysis and Reports, and Educational Resources. January 2016: Fidelity ranked in the top five in 10 out of 12 categories.
