CTA and Other Tech Groups Present Innovation Tech Agenda to Presidential Candidates

The following statement is attributed to Gary Shapiro (News - Alert), president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, regarding the release of the first-ever Technology Sector Presidential Platform to the presidential candidates:

"As our industry employs more than 6.7 million people across the country, adding nearly 200,000 jobs in 2015, we are seeing tech issues take a back seat this election cycle. Across the show floor at CES (News - Alert)® 2016 and as I hear during my travels across the country, entrepreneurs and startups are dismayed there's been minimal dialogue on the issues that matter most to our industry. From ensuring a skilled workforce and fostering trade to a balanced and pro-innovation approach to intellectual property and protecting free expression online, the policies laid out in this joint platform are critical to the future success of the American economy.

"We urge the candidates to discuss and present their plans, and to embrace our innovation agenda to ensure America's leadership in competitiveness. Our country needs to elect a leader who supports policies tat harness the power of technology, create jobs, grow the economy and foster disruption, not candidates who want to delay, restrict or ban the progress that stems from innovation."
