North American satellite operator places $4 million order for Sandvine's PTS 32000, business intelligence, traffic optimization

WATERLOO, ON, May 5, 2016 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that it has received an order from a North American satellite operator for approximately $4 million.

After a highly competitive technical evaluation, the satellite operator chose Sandvine's market-leading 100GE Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) 32000 to displace their existing network policy control solution. Sandvine's network policy control platform will be used by the operator to enable business intelligence and traffic optimization solutions that will ensure their subscribers enjoy a high quality of experience when using the Internet.

In its 2 rack unit (RU) form factor, the PTS 32000 delivers PCEF/TDF functionality for fixed, mobile, and satellite operators at the highest scale, with the best performance density (Gbps/RU) and performance efficiency (Gbps/watt) of any 100GE network policy control device.

"Sandvine's Traffic Optimization solutions are well-suited to address satellite operators' challenges in dealing with network latency," said Tom Donnelly, Sandvine's COO, Sales and Global Services. "This order further demonstrates the success we have had in the satellite market and how operators recognize the role Sandvine can play in improving the overall Internet experience for their subscribers."
