CodeRED to Participate in Mobile Strategies Workshop at 2016 National Hurricane Conference

ORMOND BEACH, Fla., March 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Emergency Communications Network (ECN), North America's largest provider of critical and mass notification systems, will be participating in an educational workshop at the 2016 National Hurricane Conference on mass alert and warning technologies in a mobile society. The workshop will be led by Doug Bryson, Emergency Management Director for Spartanburg County, S.C. and President of International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Region IV. The session will feature Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Lead Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) Engineer, Mark Lucero, ECN's CodeRED Product Manager, Troy Harper, and Don Hall, ECN's Director of Government Relations.

This workshop will address the public's growing dependency on mobile technologies to receive alerts and warnings about emergencies. According to the Pew Research Center, it is estimated that 92% of U.S. adults carry a cell phone and approximately 76% keep them on 24x7. During the workshop, Harper and Hall will be discussing the technologies available to reach the mobile public and encouraging attendees to share their own best practices.

"As a former public safety director, I believe it is imperative for government offcials to understand industry trends and emerging technologies that can support the improved adoption rates of mobile communication tools for residents, visitors, and staff," Harper said. "The industry is ever-changing and it's important to stay on top of the latest tools and trends. Our presentation will provide leaders in emergency management with a clearer vision of how to keep up with the demand for mobile alerting in a digital world."

The National Hurricane Conference serves as a national annual assembly for federal, state, and local officials to exchange ideas for hurricane preparedness. The event accommodates over 1,500 attendees from around the country and covers all major aspects of hurricane preparedness. Attendees make recommendations for new policies to improve emergency management best practices and share strategies for hurricane response, recovery, and mitigation.

"The value of this conference to attendees is the exposure to not only which technologies are currently leading the industry, but also those developing trends in public safety communications," said Hall. "This conference provides excellent workshops and training sessions while attracting a wide variety of public safety officials from across the nation."

To see the "Alert and Warning Technologies in a Mobile Society" presentation, visit the 2016 National Hurricane Conference at the Hilton in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 3:30pm.
