Owl Computing Technologies to Demonstrate Nuclear Industry Compliance Capabilities at NEI Cybersecurity Workshop

RIDGEFIELD, Conn., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Owl Computing Technologies, Inc., a cybersecurity solutions provider, has been protecting the nation's nuclear power plants for over eight years. With the latest release of the Owl Perimeter Defense Solution (OPDS) product line, Owl now provides a single box solution that not only supports multiple data types and data flows simultaneously but also provides bandwidth upgrades via software licenses.

"This latest release of the OPDS product line establishes it as the most flexible and powerful, single box solution on the market," stated Sal Morlando, Director of Operations at Owl. "Customers are now in a position to 'right-size' their solution, purchasing for today's needs with the knowledge they can expand in the future as needed."

As part of their on-going mission, Owl protects Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) within nuclear power plants with a hardware-enforced, deterministic one-way only data diode solution. This helps operators meet the one-way communication requirements in the Regulatory Guide 5.71 for maintaining one-way only communications between Level 4 and Level 3, and between Level 3 and Level2.

At the NEI Workshop, March 1st – 3rd, in Seattle, attendees will have the opportunity to see the OPDS-100, OPDS-100D and the OPDS-1000 products.  Designed to out-live normal enterprise class servers, these industrial grade solutions are intended to stay in production use 3-4 times longer than normal IT equipment with much more frequent refresh rates.

The OPDS 1U and DIN rail appliance products support multiple data streams across a range of data interfaces (files, streaming data, historians, databases, syslog messages, email, SNMP traps, etc.) from various vendors simultaneously. The solutions also scale from 10Mbps to 1Gbps, allowing operators to deploy a single box to both protect their plants and transfer all types of data at high bandwidths very reliably.

"We are pleased that with advances in technology we can now offer a more comprehensive solution to the nuclear industry with an even better ROI," said Dr. Ronald Mraz, President & CEO of Owl. "These solutions are very versatile allowing operators to meet NRC regulatory requirements, providing licensing flexibility & expandability and offering a much longer life span than comparable solutions."
