Zinwave's UNItivity Platform Eliminates Upgrade Pain for Upcoming AWS-3, 600 MHz Spectrum Rollouts

Zinwave (News - Alert), a global provider of wideband distributed network solutions for in-building cellular and public safety services, today announced that its UNItivity wideband distributed antenna system (DAS) is the only system that is ready today for upcoming mobile operator upgrades to AWS-3 and 600 MHz frequency bands.

As mobile operators seek to deliver more bandwidth and capacity to their subscribers, they are planning to roll out AWS-3 frequency bands and to participate in the upcoming 600 MHz frequency band auction, which will be held this year. AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile (News - Alert) and a host of smaller carriers were awarded AWS-3 spectrum licenses in 2015. The AWS-3 band comprises unpaired uplink spectrum in the 1695-1710 MHz band, blocks of paired uplink spectrum from 1755-1780 MHz, and blocks of paired downlink spectrum from 2155-2180 MHz bands.

Unlike all other DAS products, UNItivity's wideband architecture allows it to support any frequency band from 150 MHz to 2700 MHz without hardware upgrades, giving UNItivity customers a truly future-proof solution. Even existing Zinwave solutions that were deployed years ago can accommodate the new AWS-3 and 600 MHz frequency bands without additional hardware - mobile operators simply "plug in" these new frequency RF sources to the UNItivity main hub, and the system automatically supports the new bands.

"Mobile operators are continually adding new frequency bands to deliver higher capacity to their subscribers, and conventional DAS products must undergo expenive hardware upgrades to accommodate each new frequency," said John Spindler (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at Zinwave. "UNItivity is the only DAS that supports any current or future wireless frequency without hardware upgrades, so customers can adopt it without worrying about paying for additional hardware down the road."
