While period certain structured settlements have been securitized for nearly 20 years, there has been recent interest in life contingent structured settlement securitizations. A structured settlement is an agreement between a claimant and a defendant, whereby the claimant agrees to settle a lawsuit in exchange for periodic payments to be made by the defendant to the claimant over time. The defendantgenerally discharges its obligation by purchasing an annuity from a highly rated life insurance company. Structured settlements are a popular method for settling personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice and wrongful death cases.

Topics to be covered in the webinar include A.M. Best's process for rating life contingent structured settlement securitizations, key rating drivers, risk modeling, stress testing and other aspects of the transactions.
