VERT Lands First NBA Client Miami HEAT to Track Jump and G-Force Analytics

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- VERT, a leader in wearable athletic technology, announces today its first NBA client the Miami HEAT.  In addition to the Miami Heat, the VERT Team Sports system will be worn by the NBA Development League Sioux Falls SkyForce, a single affiliation partner of the Miami HEAT.  Committed to preventing player injury during practice, the Miami HEAT uses VERT® for its non-invasive qualities, allowing coaches to keep track of jump load and intensity measurements.

"We are thrilled to have the Miami HEAT and its development league, SkyForce, as our first NBA teams using our VERT Team Sports system," said Martin Matak, founder and president of VERT. "Our commitment to providing accurate and meaningful real-time measurements will create a safer environment for athletes. The use of our technology is helping coaches with the ability to modify drills during practice for recovery and injury prevention."

VERT's non-invasive and discrete inrtial measurement unit (IMU) is worn on an individual's body to report numerous athletic measurements, including accumulated G-Force, jump height, jump count, surge count and every peak G-Force measurement by movement. These measurements are sent to the VERT software architecture in real-time, providing analytics to ensure high level player management.

"VERT is cutting-edge," said Andy Elisburg, Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations/General Manager for the Miami HEAT. "It is 'next-generation technology', today."

The tech company recently debuted VERT 2, a next generation wearable device that provides intensity, exertion and stress analytics in addition to VERT's original jump height and count measurements.  Becoming one of the first wearable tech for in-game play, VERT technology was recently a part of the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship games. Using VERTcast, a sports telemetry system broadcasting through live-screen and television newscast, viewers were able to experience student athleticism in real-time during the semi-final and championship games on ESPN 2.
