Kroll Appoints New Associate Managing Directors to Cyber and Security Risk Management Practices


Kroll ("the Company"), a global leader in risk mitigation, compliance, security, and incident response solutions, today announced the appointment of Erik Rasmussen as Associate Managing Director, Cyber Security and Investigations practice, and Jeff Kernohan as Associate Managing Director, Security Risk Management practice, effective immediately. Mr. Rasmussen is based in Reston, Virginia and reports to Cyber Security and Investigations practice leader, Tim Ryan. Mr. Kernohan is based in Chicago and reports to Security Risk Management practice leader, Tim Horner.

Erik Rasmussen

Mr. Rasmussen most recently served as Director, North America Cyber Security Intelligence, Payment System Risk, for Visa Inc., where he developed the threat intelligence platform for cyber intelligence and investigations needs. Prior to Visa, he was IT Security Manager, Security and Investigations for Fidelity National Information Services (News - Alert), a leading international provider of technology-enabled solutions for the payments and banking industries.

Previously, Mr. Rasmussen served for almost a decade in the United States Secret Service. At the time he left the Secret Service, he was a Special Agent focused primarily on domestic and international computer crime investigations. In addition to criminal violations related to access device fraud, bulletproof hosting services, child pornography, distributed denial of service attacks, botnet attacks and wre fraud, he conducted the international investigation that resulted in United States of America v. Sergey Vovnenko (a.k.a. "Flycracker"). He earlier served on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, based in Los Angeles, which investigated the activities of domestic and international terrorist organizations. He began his career as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in Tacoma, Washington.



Mr. Rasmussen earned his Juris Doctor at the Seattle University School of Law and is admitted to the Washington State Bar. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Science & Technology Law Section. Additionally, he has presented at numerous internationally recognized conferences such as RSA (News - Alert), IACP and ASIS International.

Jeff Kernohan


Mr. Kernohan is returning to Kroll after serving for the past three years in Washington, D.C. as Mid-Atlantic Regional Director for Guidepost Solutions LLC, a global provider of monitoring, compliance, investigations and risk management solutions. In this role, he was responsible for the financial and operational performance of the firm's Security & Technology Consulting division. He also concurrently managed Guidepost's Private Client Protection Security practice.

Mr. Kernohan was previously a member of the Kroll team, from 2000 to 2012, a period during which he steadily took on greater leadership responsibilities, ultimately serving as Associate Vice President from 2010 to 2012, with responsibility for managing all of Kroll's security consulting, design and engineering services for the East Coast. After September 11, 2001, Mr. Kernohan transferred from Kroll's Texas office to New York City, where he was responsible for ensuring the quality of work conducted by more than 60 security professionals performing risk assessments in the year following the terrorist attacks. He was also instrumental in developing with outside counsel Kroll's successful application for Department of Homeland (DHS) Security Safety Act status, a DHS effort designed to help promote the creation, deployment and use of anti-terrorism technologies.

Mr. Kernohan has a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and ASIS International.
